Alain Goraguer - Au Delà De La Peur

Many of you may have Alain Goraguer's wonderful soundtrack to "Fantastic Planet", but here is one of his lesser known works: "Au Delà De La Peur". This was originally a 45 and only contains two songs, but is nice to have anyway. If you don't already have the "Fantastic Planet" OST I would recommend getting it. Enjoy! This one should be a quick download, only 6.8 Mb.

Ken Nordine - How Are Things In Your Town? (1971)

Here is a very nice out of print word jazz album from Ken Nordine. It is a collection of songs that were recorded between 1957 and 1960. If you're not familiar with Nordine or word jazz, I highly suggest checking this out. Very nice jazz music with Ken Nordine telling amusing anecdotes. If you've never heard "Colors" by Ken Nordine, I would suggest checking it out also.

Sven Libaek - Neil Diamond Instrumentally

Finally I've been able to post this album. I know some of you have been waiting on it for a little while so here it is. This isnt my favorite Libaek album but it is an interesting album worth having. Sorry about the cover image being so blurry but I ripped this from cassette tape and my ancient digital camera had a really hard time photographing the tiny cassette tape cover. I dont think there is a cover image of this album anywhere else online, if someone finds one let me know.

Ennio Morricone - Vergogna Schifosi

This is one of my favorite Ennio Morricone scores. I searched for it for a long time before I finally found it. I originally wanted to hear it because at one point in time Sean O'Hagan from the High Llamas said it was his favorite album and naturally, the High Llamas being my favorite band at the time, I held his opinion in high regard. I finally found the album and it is a wonderful dreamy album with enough wordless vocals to choke a horse.

1. Matto, Caldo, Soldi, Morto Girotondo
2. Guardami Negli Occhi
3. Ninna Nanna per Adulti
4. Una Spiaggia a Mezzogiorno

Basil Kirchin - Abstractions of the Industrial North

This is a pretty incredible library album I recently stumbled upon. Unfortunately I won't post it because it has recently been reissued, but I am posting a link to where you can hear samples of a few songs. It reminds me of a band called the Hylozoists and also the Europa 51 album from a couple years ago. Here is where you can listen to and buy the album: http://www.moviegrooves.com/shop/abstractionsindustrialnorth.htm

Jerry Goldsmith - Logan's Run

Heres a nice album with a good deal of synthsizer, Jerry Goldsmith's "Logan's Run" soundtrack. It seems to be recently out of print so I guess now is a fair time to post it. Enjoy!

101 Strings - Lost Horizon

Here is a record I picked up recently at a thrift shop in Bloomington, 101 Strings performing Burt Bacharach's score to "Lost Horizon" from 1972. I suppose Hal David should recieve some credit because he wrote lyrics to these songs, even though they were lost in the 101 Strings instrumental translation. There is a part in the first track where the song skips a bit, but hey - it makes it seem like you're really listening to a record, right? Maybe not, but I can't really expect a record I payed $0.25 for to be in pristine condition. I also found a Jerry Goldsmith score at the shop for the same price but decided not to buy it when I took the record out of the sleeve and it was covered with crusty white crap. Anyway enough small talk, this is a pretty nice record and I felt it was worth posting.

1. Lost Horizon
2. The World is a Circle
3. Living Together Growing Together
4. I Come to You
5. Jacaranda
6. Share the Joy
7. Question Me an Answer
8. Reflections
9. Friday Street
10. Just Friends

Roger Roger - Chappelle Mood Music Vol. 24

This album is not my own rip or upload; I did recently download it though and would like to share it with any visitors of my site, as it is a really nice album. I got it over at Sounds of Champaign (Side 2) which is where you can access it. Make sure to look for the link in the comments section.

My next post will be a recent thrift shop find (for only $0.25!) that I ripped yesterday: Burt Bacharach's score to the film "Lost Horizon" performed by the 101 Strings. I haven't posted it yet because I ran out of batteries for my digital camera and want to get pictures of the cover and back of the album as I have done with previous posts.

Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks - Striking it Rich

Here is an album a bit different from the others I've posted so far. The one thing it has in common with the others is that I think it is a really great album. This one is from 1972 and is Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks "Striking it Rich." They are a truly original band and if you havent heard them I would highly suggest doing so. The band has two guitar players (one is a male vocalist), a fiddle player, an upright bass player, and two female vocalists who play auxillary percussion (and sing amazing harmonies).

02. Walkin' One and Only
03. O'Reilly At The Bar

Pilot Wings 64

Here is a pretty nice collection of music from Nintendo's "Pilot Wings 64". A while back I decided to plug the 64's audio-out cables into my computer and rip the music which resulted in 8 tracks of sort of rediculous mid-1990s electro-funk. I enjoy the music pretty well and even if you havent played the game I'd imagine you could enjoy it.

Sven Libaek - Soft Lights...and You

Well here goes my first album post. Sven Libaek is one of my all time favorites and this is the only album of his I've ripped from my own vinyl, hopefully I'll get around to posting some more. Anyway this is Sven Libaek's "Soft Lights...and You" from 1979. "Movie Man" and "Snowflakes" are the only tracks written by Libaek, but they are all good. Side 2 of the album seems to have a holiday feel.

First Post

Well I guess I should say hello to whoever may be visiting my new blog? I was driving today listening to some music (David Axelrod's "Earth Rot") and thought that most people would never have a chance to listen to it. I started this website so I can share the rare albums that I love with other dorks who may like similar music.
